Hypothetical model showing altered transcriptional regulatory mechanisms leading to reduced coleoptile elongation of rad mutant. The presence of high endogenous level of ABA in the seeds of rad mutant could lead to ABA dependent signaling via serine/threonine kinases. It might lead to the activation of a number of TFs acting as repressors of metabolic genes that slow down the synthesis of cell building blocks for suppression of elongation to maintain metabolites for cell survival.
