Hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) accumulation after abiotic stress treatments. H2O2 was visualized using 3,3′-diaminobenzidine (DAB); oxidation of DAB by H2O2 results in a dark brown color. Leaves from cultivar SHZ-2 were subjected to a mock spray treatment or mechanical wounding with a needle and were harvested 24 h post-treatment. H2O2 accumulated in diffuse, scattered spots after the mock spray and accumulated heavily in areas directly surrounding the needle wounds (GIF 103 kb)
