T_c is the value of the CSIT, the T_c for H93S is 23.0 °C and for PA64S is 24.0 °C; T_Δ is the value of the ELT (i.e., the difference between actual treatment temperature T and T_c), the T_Δ is set at two levels: T_Δ1 = 2.5 °C and T_Δ2 = 2.0 °C; t₁ and t₂ are the times at which temperatures above and below the CSIT, respectively, and t₂ values of 7 h, 9 h, 11 h, 13 h, 15 h and 17 h correspond to t₁ values 11 h, 9 h, 7 h, 5 h, 3 h and 1 h, respectively, for a total of 18 h (t₁ + t₂ + 6 = 24 h); The photoperiod settings (simulating sunlight) and temperature settings were not synchronized and were mutually exclusive.
