Proposed working model of SDG712 in rice flowering. SDG712 negatively regulates rice flowering by two possible pathways. In one pathway, SDG712 represses the expression of Ehd1, thus represses the expression of downstream florigen genes Hd3a and RFT1 to delay rice flowering. In the other pathway, SDG712 represses the expression of Hd3a and RFT1 genes directly by mediating the H3K9 di-methylation (H3K9me2) at these two loci to delay rice flowering
