Appearance quality of dehulled kernels. The proportions of perfect (translucent), immature, damaged, abortive, and colored kernels were determined using a grain image analyzer, ES-1000 (Shizuoka Seiki) for “Koshihikari”. Immature kernels were further classified into milky-white, white-belly, and white-based/backed kernels with the ES-1000.
