In experiment 3, heat stress and controlled water-deficit stress were imposed on the starting day of anthesis till the end of main tiller anthesis (c) and the flag-leaf RWC during the period was continuously monitored for four consecutive flowering days (day 1 [D1], day 2 [D2], day 3 [D3], and day 4 [D4]) (d). Duration from the start of stress till the flag-leaf RWC attained the target water content on day 1 (D1) was 5 days and the rewatering data were collected 3 days after rewatering (indicated by parallel line breaks in d).
